Completion of Garima Road Race 2082

Garima Bikas Bank Limited successfully organized the second edition of the Garima Road Race 2082 on Saturday, 6th Mangsir, 2082, to celebrate its 19th anniversary. The event embraced the theme “Sports for a Healthy Lifestyle” and witnessed enthusiastic participation from runners, sports enthusiasts, corporate athletes, and community members.

Race Details

Open Category (10 km)

The Open race started from the proposed Central Office building of Garima Bikas Bank in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. Runners followed a scenic yet challenging route through Narayan Gopal Chowk, Hattigauda, and the Ward Office of Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward No. 3. They then returned along the same route to finish at Baluwatar.

Corporate and Veteran Category (5 km)

The Corporate and Veteran races also began at Baluwatar. Participants ran through Narayan Gopal Chowk toward Neuro Hospital in Bansbari and returned to Baluwatar for the finish line.

Participation and Awards

This year’s event saw more than 1,000 runners, making it one of the largest participation turnouts in the history of the race. The competition featured three categories Open, Corporate, and Veteran with separate events for men and women.

The top five finishers in all categories were awarded cash prizes, medals, and certificates as follows:

Open Category (10 km)

• 1st Place: NPR 50,000
• 2nd Place: NPR 35,000
• 3rd Place: NPR 20,000
• 4th Place: NPR 15,000
• 5th Place: NPR 10,000

Corporate and Veteran Category (5 km)

• 1st Place: NPR 30,000
• 2nd Place: NPR 20,000
• 3rd Place: NPR 14,000
• 4th Place: NPR 10,000
• 5th Place: NPR 7,000

Olympian Santoshi Shrestha won the women’s 10 km race with a time of 34 minutes and 54 seconds. In the men’s category, Rajan Rokaya from the Nepal Army secured first place with an impressive time of 29 minutes and 12 seconds. Nepal Army athletes performed exceptionally well, sweeping all top positions in the men’s Open category and securing four out of five top spots in the women’s Open category.
