It appears that only a limited number of Nepalese have
access to the credit card facility that was introduced in Nepal about three
decades ago. Due to the lack of awareness regarding the use, utility, and
benefits of credit cards, it can be considered that its reach has not extended
to the general public.
Garima Bikas Bank has launched EMI facility in credit card based
on the principle of "Buy Today, Pay Tomorrow" for its elite customers.
With the aim of making the uses of credit card more customer-friendly, Garima
Bikas Bank has introduced an EMI service, allowing for installments for the
first time in Development Bank history. Under this service, when customers
purchase goods from vendors contracted by the bank and pay with Garima Bikas
Bank's credit card, the entire purchase amount can be paid in monthly
installments at a 0% interest rate, rather than all at once. Furthermore, if
customers wish to avail themselves of this facility by purchasing goods from
other vendors and submitting the VAT bill to Garima Bikas Bank, they can easily
do so. This is especially beneficial for those customers who would like to buy
goods during the upcoming big festival i.e. Dashain and Tihar festivals but are
uncomfortable paying the entire amount immediately.
The bank believes that credit cards will become accessible
to all Nepalese, thus contributing to the overall economic growth and stability
of the country.
